I've actually ordered a couple of (non-cycling related) items from Made.com in the past. They take a VERY long time to deliver, but that's a large part of the reason their stuff is so cheap.
I got a rather beautiful floor lamp for about £40 and a couple of massive "fat boy" style bean bags for £60 each. Massive savings on all of them and the product is excellent quality. If you're able to wait for delivery, it's worth it.
I'm not saying their bikes will be suitable for anyone on this forum (I'm certainly not getting one) but I've recommended them to a couple of cycle-shy friends, saying it'll be a solid (possibly too solid?!) product for a bargain price.
If anyone here gets one, I'll be interested to hear how it works out...

Hi, all.
Was hoping to get some rapid advice from the forum.
My 2008 Lemond Tourmalet was stolen from outside my office in Southwark last Wednesday.
I've now seen it listed on Gumtree this Wednesday (two days ago).
It's a relatively rare bike and they don't appear for sale much. The listing I've spotted is pretty obviously dodgy. I called the police about it last night and left a message for an officer to get back to me this morning. The guy in the phone agreed the listing sounded dodgy.
So my question for you guys is... If/when the police are totally ineffectual about getting it back, what should I do about it?
Of course there's the option of "taking the boys round" but... well, I'm not up for a knife or gun fight over this (there was a petrol bombing and shootingin my street earlier this week in retaliation to a a cyclist hitting a car, so escalation of violence is on my mind!).
Last time my bike was nicked, in summer 2008, the police were totally f*cking useless. They c*ocked up getting it back when it appeared on Gumtree later that same day, and I ended up buying it back on the Sunday morning from a young foreign couple who'd bought £1k of bike on Brick Lane for £125. Why did I pay? Because I'd called the police and they told me it was between me and the buyers, not their problem. Totally useless.
So. I'm worried about what I might have to do now.
All thoughts welcome please! Thanks -

I'm replacing my Chrome Kremlin this summer. Finally tired of it being too small to easily fit everything I need (and also of humorists pressing the big red button when drunk at parties).
I've narrowed it down to a choice of two, and would appreciate any comments you guys & gals might have on either one...
Transient Bags - Large Messenger
or
Cocotte Equipment - Alfredo Pro Messenger BagThere's a positive comment about the Cocotte earlier in this thread, but I can't find anything much about the Transient...
Am about to put a (relatively) new group set on a late-90s steel Lemond Tourmalet. The original 90s shifters were crap and broke, so I decided to replace the whole lot. The frame looks old school, but I'm looking forward to rolling with nice new parts all over...
