It should not cost anything.

The recovery of the cctv footage wont cost you.

As for the DNA go to a solicitor and get a 30 min free meeting and explain everything that happened and say you are there to get legal advice on having you DNA removed from the data base he will be able to tell you if he think it is possible and he will also give you some forms to fill out for legal aid.

He may suggest other options open to you and possibly other legal points that you may wish to take up.

A police officer has a legal duty to give his name and number if asked for it, if he is the arresting officer he should have gave this at some point whilst your were in custody. He would have to by law give his name and number to the tape during the interview.

I would suggest if you don’t already have it go into any police station and get the incident number for your arrest.

If the arrest was on video and I suggest it is, it is most likely a CCTV operator was watching you on camera and talked the police in. I would request a copy of the footage from the council. By law they have to keep it for 31 days so act quickly as the freedom of information process can take as long as that.

You need to go about getting your DNA removed from the data base, you may have to pay but I would send the receipt to the police and try to get a refund. It would not surprise me if they did not submit the DNA sample after they released you but you won’t know until you try to have it removed.
