I'll be heading to Bristol at some point soon, so perhaps i'll be able to see what Hilary has. Good tip.

Got hold of an '81 Mercian touring frame/forks with a record headset on eBay. I'd budgeted for a respray, but to be honest the paint is pretty good (midnight blue). Anyway, perhaps i'll have it sprayed in a light blue at some point.
The real question is what do I hang off of it?
It'll probably be geared (shock horror), as I have a fixed and a singlespeed already.

Going to put a Brooks B17 in honey and honey tape, but that's as far as i've got.

I could do with some help on the stem/bars/post. Silver to be in keeping with the colour scheme. I like the look of Nitto stuff, but finding any is proving difficult. Also, any suggestions on which ones? Any other similar makes?

Suggestions on gears and wheels too if you like.

    Cheers.

The bike has changed a bit since the photo's above. Riding position looks a little uncomfortable...

I've been eyeing up an off-the-peg Bob Jackson frame as a replacement. Not bad for £345.
I'd check ebay for Mercian frames. I got an '81 with reasonable paint for about £100. No track ends though.

The Fuji is cheap and cheerful. Nothing's broken on my '08 yet....
I've got a bit of a soft spot for the Charge Plug racer, though i've heard they are a bit heavy.

I had a look at a Revolution Track the other day. Looked quite nice, though I didn't pick it up so can't comment on weight. You do get brakes on it, and the money you may save on getting a Fuji Track with a few quid knocked off would have to go on a brake anyway, unless you have a deathwish.

I went for a miche one (17T), mainly because it comes with a carrier thingamy, so you can just take off the lockring and switch the cog without much fuss. Which was a good idea, because I think an 18T would have been a better idea. Took alot of force to remove the old one. I'm told the factory put them on extra tight because the hubs aren't much cop.
