I am tempted to get a cheap geared bike, but will the aluminium frame feel sloopy compared to my steel Reynolds on the flyer?

I really hate to ask, and I'm sure there will be some backlash, but here goes.....
I am doing the London Triathlon in August and so will be needing a bike with gears. As much as I would like to buy myself a carbonfibre two grand monster, I cannot.
So, my question is......can I put gears on my Single Speed? I have a Genesis Flyer Frame with Miche Pista wheels.
Any help or a point in the right direction would be much appreciated.
I promise to change it back after..........

Sorry to jump in on your thread xsheepx, but....
I'm looking for a frame for my 5 2" missus as well, so if xsheepx is priced out of the market, or drops out, I may be interested.
Obviously I wouldn't enter into a bidding war, but if you're not keen xsheepx, I might be.
