Hi, Thanks for your kind words. Not really one for forums, but I feel lfgss.com is a worthy cause and having participated in the Tweed Run (thanks Jacqui), looking forward to posting more.

I too have little offspring, being the sponser, I am obliged to go. Thanks to Coppithat for the youtube video. It gives an idea of the event.

Still thinking, and similing, about this a week-and-a-half later. Sat around in my breeks last night to try and recreate some of the atmosphere :) Can't wait for another 12 months for another Tweed Run; thinking about flying over for the New York one...

If you can't wait there's a couple of other tweedy type events:

Boulogne Rally - http://www.theoldbicycleshowroom.co.uk/events-108-c.asp - already mentioned this, a gentle 25-miles around the pre-war GP road circuit on old bikes stopping at tabacs for beers.

L'Eroica - http://www.eroica-ciclismo.it/english/home.asp - first time this year for me, 100 miles on gravel roads 'round Tuscanny

Hello, New to the forum, but been sitting on the fence watching for ages.

Being the proprietor of The Old Bicycle Co and the official sponser/ organiser of The Boulogne Bicycle Rally. (as mentioned above). I thought I'd better reply to this thread. It is kind a tweedish run in France. It started about 31 years ago and has been a annual event ever since. The reason for going it to celibrate the route of the Boulogne GP which was held on a 37 km road curcuit, with the likes of Bugatti/ Peugeot, Frazer Nash, Salmson, Amilcar ect all competing. Small cafe's and bars line the route, so a Stella Artois or a Richard is expect is each. 24 miles of very undulating french countryside. For more info: just follow the link above or here

L'Eroica is another event that should be attended, I've been about 5 times and cannot reccommend it enough.

Another more unknown event is The Retro Ronde. Ride the Tour of Flanders most famous hills. The Beer is good too. Here is the website.
