    Hiya

has anyone used, or know of a machine shop near hackney/east london that could lathe and drill up some little aly/steel bits - rings, collars, that kind of thing? as an example, something like a custom bottom bracket adapter for example...?

I am thinking there will be one around hackney wick somewhere, but wondering if anyone has used one?

    Thanks, Anthony

thanks for the advice brick, will have a go with the headset tightened up. the dismount is hard on fixed.

I guess the skill is to able to do it slow enough that you can wild out, rather than having to run after the bike....

I can't believe you guys would be so negative about those 3G bikes when we FGSSers live in a world of absolutely ridiculous bollocks like a man riding a bike with a pink color coded chain....

I've ridden a few 3g bikes and they roll nicely, the build quality is good for the price. I mean hell, the weight of the steel alone is worth half the price....¬~!

yeah me! I was on a date that night, and didn't know about the pub meet. So when suddenly I saw all the fixed kit chained to the pub, I didn't want to go in and expose my entirely geeky side by talking about bikes and completely ignoring her...! We saw you guys doing some time trials later, and she was like - "are they racing round timing themselves on bikes? that's what I used to do when I was 12!" and I was like, yeah, it's retro...

I will try come next wednesday if it's on.

hi, a fixed cruiser is my current bike. I took a cheap schwinn beach cruiser frame and refitted everything else with fixie stuff - rims, hubs, cranks, fork, bars

    see here

I'm glad because it looks different to everyone else's bike, and I really like the way that the white velocities mimic the look of beach cruiser white wall tyres.

a few things just don't work, like the chainline is about 2mm off, and because i had to use a bottom bracket adapter, the cranks have a tiny tiny bit of wobbling very very very slightly sometimes depending on the temperature!!! but that's the fun of having a bike like this, I am trying to iron out these things (slowly)

she handles fine though despite the weird geometry.

next step I am going to build spinning rims for it. I ride mostly around E2 E8 E9, so hope to maybe see some of you around.
