Another part of the problem is the lack of return spring for each cable at the hub itself - each cable is dependent on the other for tension, so at each end of the gear range one cable has no tension and gets bunched up in those tight turns in the shifter. Have found that running outer a bit longer than normal and making sure the ferrules are really well pressed into the barrel adjusters helps wee bit (but not much!)

Sadly the horse is pre-2015 campag cable pull and therefore not backwards compatible

Forgot about Dub, don't see many of them where I am. Although 90nm+ breakout force to get them off makes me glad that's the case 🙃

All/most the aliexpress cranksets have aluminium spindles (!) too, which no mainstream manufacturer does afaik. Have seen one where through normal usage the spindle has worn and snapped where it comes into contact with BB bearings, leaving customer looking like that famous pic of Fignon.

Flat bar cross bike* coming out for the 'summer', needs a clean/swap wheels out for open pros I nicked off a customer. Maybe converting back to drop bars too?
