Hey, so I've been looking for a Surly Disc Trucker for a little while now and I've come across one for sale in Romania. At first glance the guy looks pretty legit (did a massive tour on it from Kazakhstan to Turkey) and I'm gonna chat with him tomorrow. Assuming he is legit, and the bike is in good condition, and I can get him to an acceptable price, I'm not really sure how I would go about collecting or receiving the bike. If it was normal times I would probably consider flying to Romania and cycling back, but alas...
So, anyone have any idea of the costs of posting a complete bike across Europe? I'm in Ireland so it's (possibly?) simpler than if I were in the UK, since it's all EU. Still, it must cost a good few quid, huh? Anyone ever done anything similar?

Hey,
So I've been looking around for a new (that is, new used) touring bike and I just came across this which is sort of in my area. I don't know much about Trek 520's - does anybody who knows more want to let me know if this is a good deal? Looks like they're a few hundred euro more in Ireland anyway, and this one has a front dyno/usb charger/lights set-up to boot.

Yeah that seems likely. Surprising in a way though because sometimes weight can be a stabilizing force too.

Bouzouki, juggling clubs, accordion, pannier on the other side. And I think a sleeping bag I used to have that was really big. I made this bamboo extension to the rack to get it all in.

Wow yeah that's pretty crazy.
For the record I get it when I have a good amount of weight on the front as well.
Looking for a Surly LHT or DT 58cm. 56cm maybe also considered. Also potentially other bombproof steel touring framesets/complete bikes.
