The choice for many in the '80s. Usually branded Mavic or Simplex.
Lovely to use and rather attractive too. No missed changes with these.

Good choice! Most feature a dyed anodized finish on the three main tubes, e.g. violet, red, silver. Some came with either a white or black powder coat finish. Forks, chain and seat stays have a natural anodized finish. The bottom bracket, head tube, seat lug, fork crown and drop-outs are unfinished dural and can be polished with Autosol etc.
A very light T-cut of the anodized tubes might help to conceal fine, superficial scratches, but anything further risks cutting through the anodized coat to reveal the tube's natural dural finish with contrasting levels of brightness and colour.
The anodized layer on the chain/seat stays and forks can be removed with a Scotch-Brite drill wheel to leave a natural dural finish which can be mirror polished. For a scratch-free finish to the three main tubes, one option is to have them painted/lacquered in a pearl or metallic colour. The one below used to be white.
    Hope this helps.

Bought the frame inc. forks, bar & stem for this at a bike jumble a couple of years ago. Twelve months build with period(ish) Campag and new Mavic Open Pros.
Perhaps not the lightest, but reasonably stiff and responsive. Respray not an exact match, but works for me.
