Thanks a lot for your quick reply. Very helpful!
Yes fender space is a concern. If you look here: http://www.nolifelikethislife.com/byexpressen-omniumcargo/
Looks nice and quite functional but no fenders...
I wonder what is the difference between a 650b+ 2.00 wtb and a 700c marathon with max width 1.5 in terms of compromise between speed / confort / stability of load... In you experience with narrow tires such as the one you have, how do you feel the ride is? But yes 700 has much more choice. What do you have in the back and how do feel about it? Thanks again -
Hi Guys, new here but I would like some advice please on building an Omnium Mini-max
I recently bought a used large frame (2016) and a used 406 alexrim DM 24 (24 internal).
Background: I plan on using it for carying 20-40kg cargo over 45min max. I will also ride it without any load but I have a normal bike too. Quite keen on an electric motor too. I m 90kg and I like to go fast but wouldn't want a super uncomfy ride
My questions are: what setting would you advise for:
1) front tyre: I'm thinking a bmx race tyre like tioga or maxxis dth / torck. But I m really not sure on the width. I m think 2+ but it s hard to find. Is it worth paying the premium for lighter tyres and nicer tpi on such a bike?
2) Back wheel and tyre. I saw quite a few 27.5 with plus road tyre (like WTB horizon). Is this a good option (fast enought?). Or go 29 with 1.5inch (max allowed with fenders I think)?
Thanks a lot for any advise. It s really appreciated
Stephen
Also the reason I suggest BMX racing tires is that they usually have good rolling resistance while maintaining low weight and ok casing. Omnium themselves are offering one for their bike: https://omniumcargo.dk/shop/product/arisun-xlr8-front-and-rear-tyre/
However they stop at 44 for 406 maybe it s a good compromise?
