Thanks for identifying it! Had been a mystery to me since buying it. Happy someone knew their stuff. :)

    Hi everyone,

I have a special bike for sale which I’ve owned for the past 6 years, having bought it in California in 2015. I was told it was custom built for a professional triathlete based in LA in the mid-90s, and as you can tell from the specifications and photos it was a serious machine (and still is today!). It was fast enough to get me a speeding ticket...

I haven’t been able to identify the frame, but I am guessing it’s made of Columbus steel. The whole bike weighs ~9.7 kg.

It has barely been ridden by me and has been kept indoors since ownership.

    Drivetrain
    Chainrings : 53/39T
    Cassette : Shimano Dura-Ace 8 speed
    Rear Derailleur : Shimano Dura-Ace RD-7402
    Front Derailleur : Shimano Dura-Ace FD-7403
    Crankset : Compact, brand/model unknown

    Wheels & tires
Rear Tire : Michelin Krylion Carbon 700x23c (recommend replacing)
Front Tire : Vittoria Rubino 650x23c (ridden only twice since replacing 2 years ago)
Front Wheel : 650c Mavic Open 4 CD with Dura-Ace hub and purple nipples
Rear Wheel : 700c Specialized tri-spoke (est. 1993) clincher (~2 mm out of true)

    Cockpit
    Seat Post : Shimano Dura-Ace 7400 series 27.2mm
Saddle : San Marco Integra MSA
    Handlebars : Modolo bullhorn bar, 26.0 x 410mm
    Headset : Mavic Zap 305 25.4x24f
Stem : ControlTECH 120mm (with cork cap)

    Brakes
    Dual Control Levers : Shimano Dura-Ace ST-7400 8 speed
    Caliper Brakes : Shimano Dura-Ace BR-7402

    Frameset
    Frame : Lo-Pro, steel, 22”/56cm

The bike is in good condition given the age, everything functions and makes a beautiful noise when riding. Minor quirks, the left shifter doesn’t make a “click” noise when shifting - I suspect there’s an excess amount of grease preventing the noise, I haven’t investigated since it’s functioning.

In terms of pedals, in the photos it has some old Campag pedals which match the shoes I currently own. The bike came with a pair of SPDs (I am assuming the same Dura Ace series as the other components) which I’m happy to include too. The Selcof TT handlebars I added after purchasing the bike, please let me know if this interests you too.

    Located in Cambridge. £750.
