"PX tech support answered that it's not RAL color, supplier has his
own code and PX don't have it. They don't have any other color codes
fot that matter, thats what FAQ on they website says. I will talk
today to a guy in LBS/paint shop about identyfiing the color."That's bullshit - just plain lazy canned response customer 'service'.
They have all the paint codes - they are on the invoice from the bloody supplier !
All Taiwanese frame builders use their industry standard YS paints catalog
V4 Blue was YS-7321, as opposed to the original V1/V2 Blue which was actually a Pantone colour 292C.....
But that doesn't get round the fact that neither translate to an exact match under the RAL system.
Here is mine (must be 8 years old now) after a bit of a spruce up after battering the broken roads of Berlin for 10,000km's in under a year
XL V2 in white (YS-701 if you were wondering....)
Run Singlespeed 48-18 or flipped to fixed 48-19
Challenge Strada Bianca 30mm open tubulars on Gippieme A40's
FSA Gimondi 172.5 Cranks
Mostly the original On-One finishing kit, 3ttt 4GX bars / stem, Tektro CR520 cantis with DiaCompe 287v levers.
SKS Chromoplastic guards with a Topeak Super Tourist DX rack which takes a quick release MTX bag when neededWhy Planet X did not build on the legacy of the il-Pompino and Kaffenback and update with wider tyre clearance and disc brakes and absolutely own the steel 'do-it-all' market is a total mystery.... probably too busy buying socks i guess.
Touch wood.... so far so good!
I had a couple of issues - the internal width of the rim is a good few mm narrower than Challenge recommend - so getting an already difficult tyre to mount is made even more difficult - I must have pinched the tube slightly but all was well for a couple of weeks until the rear tyre blew - enough to blow the tyre off the rim with a massive bang and lock-up..... and another innertube's removable valve core failed
but nothing I would call a 'puncture' in 2000 km's which is good going given the amount of glass, bottle tops and car crash debris covering Berlin's streets, bikepaths and parks.... not to mention the brutal cobbles, kerbs and potholes
The ride comfort, grip and versatility over 28mm tyres like Conti 4 seasons and others I have gone through is significantly better
They are pricey though....
