Looking for a good London - Lands end, RWGPS has older routes, may not have changed much but thought i'd ask.

Agree re BBC - did it a couple of years ago and really enjoyed the route: especially riding through the peak district. (Fens is tough but Radio 4 got me through)

Signed up for my first Audax in approx. 1 year on Sunday (The White Hart 200) - can't wait/a bit apprehensive as haven't really cycled at all over past 12 months...

Any good recommendations for good value/light/effective mudguards? Planning a winter ride or two and should probably think about buying some after a couple years of not bothering on (mostly) fair weather audaxes

Was looking at that bike just today given high gearing on original version . Can't figure out if it'll be available in the UK...

Monsal Trail at night was incredible though, mile-long rail tunnels in pitch darkness full of bats.

Passed another rider in there at about 10pm which completely freaked me out, like.

lol yep - sounds like the experience I had last year.

The fens totally broke me (Thank goodness for BBC Radio 6, which kept me going)

Incredible amount of variety on that ride. Did you stop at the 24hr McDs?

Thank you, I'll definitely check those routes out! Any specific one you recommend?

I ended up doing a tweaked version of the TNRC ride above - on the whole it was really good. A few busy A roads up to km 80 or so, but after that it was especially nice..just quiet country lanes. Rolling into Bath via canal at sunset was awesome.

virtual brevet purchase + validation after sending gpx route via email was super quick and easy - yep I ended up just doing the ride without reply from organizer in the end and it all worked well. Definitely planning to do more DIYs this year!

Planning on doing a ~200 DIY London-Bath next weekend to visit a mate and looking at some routes I could potentially steal and tweak... Anyone have any route recommendations/ideas (excluding extended routes that wouldn't be great for road bike w 25-mm tyres)?

This one from TNRC ride from a few years ago looks good:

And Also came across this one:

This will also be my first time doing a DIY so need to start figuring out how to do that...

Also trying to look for some audax routes that could be fun..

that's helpful. Down a rabbit hole and also considering Citizen BM8180-03E -- not mechanical and a little bigger, but also a little cheaper and seems to be good for everyday durability etc
