This is a beautiful and fairly rare bike, but alas I have neglected it, so it needs some attention......
It's been in my garage for a number of years, and was probably the best riding bike I have ever owned...but them children came along...and I no longer used it! As a result of it being in storage, the frame/paint has rusted a bit so really needs a strip and re-spray.
It is a medium sized frame made from steel from niche and very sought after brand Brooklyn. Not many of these were imported into this country.
Please note - there are no brakes on this bike....there are no bosses/lugs/holes/places to fit them
It has a Profile chainset with Titianium axle. Thomson stem and seatpost and Spank Lounge handlebars.
It has a Profile flip-flop rear hub built onto Velocity Deep-V rims with Sapim CX Ray Spokes.
The front hud is also a Profile with the same rims and spokes, but the hub is cracked, so will need to be re-built onto a new hub.
Tyres are Freedom Thickslicks (not used)
Cane Creek headset.
Pedals are MKS with MKS leather double toe-straps
I'm looking for £2000 for my Big Dummy - including the mudguards, kickstand, bags, rear rack and Yepp childseat fittings. It is 2 years old.
The bike was used by me to commute with my children. It can fit two Yepp seats on the rear and are included in the sale.
It is a very good condition. The picture shows it without a chain. I took this off as I stopped using it and was going to fit a new one. I can do this before it is sold. The cog and chainrings are in very good order and will take another chain, and can be flipped over/reversed for next time to get even more use from them.
The Rohloff hub had an oil change last year, but has not been used since. It is in very good condition.
The wheels were handbuilt by myself using DT Swiss Competition spokes. The front hub is a Hope pro 2 EVO. Both are built onto Mavic DH rims so are very strong and true.
It has a Raceface chainset, and the bottom bracket is still in very good order.
The brakes are Hope E4's with lots of life left in the pads and no issues. Both are on 180mm rotors providing plenty of stopping power.
Tyres are Schwalbe Big Ben's and are not worn.
It comes with the Surly cargo kit - rear rack and bags.
It also has the Xtracycle kickstand (these are expensive!!)
Surly Big Dummy Frame - Steel, 16" (small), Grey.
Front Wheel: Hope Pro2EVO on Mavic EX729 Disc rime, DT Swiss Comp spokes.
Rear Wheel: Rohloff 500/14 disc rear hub, solid axle. Has had oil change. DT Swiss comp spokes, Mavic D321 Disc Rim.
Tyres: Schwalbe Big Ben
Brakeset: Hope E4. 180 rotors
Seatpost: Thomson
Chainset: Raceface inc Hollowtech bottom bracket.
Chainring and cog: Surly 36T, 16T, steel
Handlebar, stem, saddle: Bontrager
Yepp childseats x2 plus easyfit brackets.
Surly Cargo Kit
Because of the size of it, it will need to be collected, however, I might be able to deliver it if not too far (I am near Brighton). Or I can arrange a courier to deliver it, but it might cost approx. £50 due to its size.
