I'd suggest recalibrating a few times so that you can then get a sense for how quickly its changing. In my experience though, if I keep the tyre at the same pressure then it remains pretty close.

One other point worth noting is that its best to calibrate it when everything is at working temperature - i.e. after at least 10 minutes of riding. Temperature will affect tyre pressure and perhaps some of the internal workings of the Vortex.

    MrJL - excellent news.

Hovis - the lever has a knob built into it - its on the under-surface.

The recalibration will sort all that out. I had a lot more problems calibrating with lower pressure. No need for a new FTP.

One thing I would say is that the 'correct' calibration range according to the Tacx app is quite wide. Any time you recalibrate, you will end up with a slightly different FTP unleas you achieve exactly the same calibration.

I stick 120 psi and then adjust the pressure of the trainer so that it 'feels' as though the tyre wouldn't slip. This normally gets it close enough for the calibration to work and I can then adjust it to be central on the calibration - normally just a quarter of a turn at a time.

I have had the problem you describe from time to time but a couple of minutes of playing normally sorts it out.

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond so extensively. By coincidence, you reminded me that I have a colleague who a few months ago said he had a Genesis Flyer that he doesn't use enough and may sell one day. I'll have a chat...

Thank you very much for the suggestions. I'll check out that thread and also look at second hand options.

    Hi,

My first post here. I'm a keen road cyclist but keen to get a single speed for local trips and to accompany my young daughter - she is wanting to start riding short sportives and I'd like to add some extra interest to the rides for myself when doing them at a lighter pace than usual.

I've been researching for some time, including reading some extensive threads on here (wow - Foffa!) but I'm struggling to conclude much more than 'you get what you pay for'.

I have tried searching but have not found any reference to the Raleigh Propaganda, even though it has been around for a few years now. There's something nice about the heritage of Raleigh and the spec, to my admittedly inexperienced eye, seems OK.

Would anyone be able to share their experience and wisdom on this for me? It is currently available at a hefty discount on the usual RRP and I wondered if it is as good a deal as it initially appears?

    Thank you very much.
