Very interesting thread regarding Elsegood frames. I have just bought , subject to payment on collection, the red A E Elsegood frame that was pictured on the thread a few days ago. Its too small for me but would probably suit my wife who is also a cyclist and would be thrilled to ride an Elsegood frame in the Eroica or similar , afterall she has been an Elsegood since I married her many years ago. It maybe stuff and nonsense to feel that its just that little bit more special to ride a bike built by an Elsegood who will probably be a distant , distant relation , but nonetheless I'm quite excited to get my hands on it.
Unfortunately my hands can fix and tweak bikes from as early as the 1980's ( my Ribble/Dolan frame of mid 1980's is my oldest) but these older vintage models might just be a mystery too far but we'll see. There are more oldtimers in my cycling club who I think and hope will be keen to do help and do it justice.
Just thought I'd update you as the bike was mentioned in the thread so you know what is happening to it. If interested I'll keep you posted and maybe you can lend me some advice.
I noted alanelsegood@gmail.com has contributed to the thread - I wonder if this is the same Alan Elsegood who contributes to the Elsegood Family History facebook site- you never know - we aint't that common afterall.
