Check out the HED JET 6 BLACK carbon wheelsets , they have Black machined tracks on them!
They're comfortable, fast and surprisingly lighter than most full carbon wheelsets and obviously the breaking is far more superior that anodised rims.
I'm on the same boat at you right now for my 2015 black Bombtrack needle and the combination of the breakpads and rainy days have removed the anodised blackness off the rims and has made my bike look like Michael Ross's fixie from Suits 😒
Downside they're a bikes worth in price. -

Hi all,
I've just joined the LFGSS forum and I'm also new to the fixed gear scene. Not quite sure if this question had been asked before and I've searched for it in the forum but haven't been successful finding anything relating to the topic.
I just wanted to know which fixed gear/single gear brands and models would you recommend for beginners to start off with and where you'd recommend purchasing them from?
I had a look at State Bicycle co as I've seen videos of them in the red hook crit as well as unboxings on youtube and I've taken an attraction to the matte black 5 model.
But I wanted to know the opinions of others who are already more experienced in the hobby who can suggest a good benchmark to start off with.
I have a budget of £400 and open to suggestions.
Hopefully this discussion helps other beginners like myself.
It may be of some use to future readers of the post in the same predicament, hence why the post still exists for people to read and comment on regardless of how old the post is.
Aside from that I read on the forum somewhere a few others have used a Black permenant Sharpie Magnum and it seems to work wonders as it's waterproof and gives a thin yet opaque finish on almost any material used on.
