  • Have you any concept of how wet it is up there?

  • Sorry, nope, I have no clue how prolonged rain would affect a clay-based soil

There should be a drought by July

  • See above; it's looking green but it's still regularly very boggy, I'm still wearing wellies to walk.

  • 6th and 20th have things happening but otherwise I'll try and be all yours. I will aim to have a new, unnecessary and underused offroad wheelset by then!

  • I'm going to try for July 6th and 13th. Will confirm as soon as I can :-)

  • ok 13th in the diary

  • I will aim to have a new, unnecessary and underused offroad wheelset by then!

    It'll be fixed though, right?

  • My FGCX now lives in scotland (with someone else). I have treated myself to gears off road because I'm worth it

  • Away both, literally only holiday of the year

  • Not sure if question is referring to current or July conditions.

Current ones were good as of last week, might have freshened up a bit with yesterday's weather, but a dry line is appearing in most places. Still can be stuck in a bog if not sure where to go.

  • Should be another couple of rides later in the year :-)

    I feel attacked

  • A friend moved back from Norfolk and complained the forest is a lot muddier than 4y ago..

Did I make it better for you?

  • Good info here. I want to get back out this week to get some off-road miles ahead of NLD7, and was scoping today's conditions near Highams Park and Hatch Plain. Despite the rains, it didn't look too bad.

I normally know where to go so that's a bonus - just stick to less exciting bridle paths. If they're still shitty, everything else will be shittier.

Nah, they just got used to the quick draining sandy soil up here and forgot about the Epping bogs

  • Was up there Sunday, the recent rains were just sitting on the surface with nowhere to go. By July though it’ll probably be like corrugated concrete up there.

    Also away those weekends though.

  • First date now added, so...

    July 6th

  • Lunch time ride today.

Yes I cheated and stuck to bridleways for ~10 miles, but mostly dry with unavoidable, mostly minor mud. Didn't bother taking pics of the boggier bits.

Glad I too the hardtail and not the gravel bike though.

  • Where are those trees?

Went out this morning and it was splendid, a bit wet off the main paths, but lush. Will come good in a few days.

  • Haven't synced my ride yet so here's the GMaps link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/FdW7nCz92HVNiy928. It's near that confluence of streams on Green Ride.

I was heading southwards down the dip, and as soon as I climbed back up (was proud of that effort) this tree was blocking the path . Thought I'd be a good guy and move it (bottom pic) but when I saw it from the other side (top pic), I realised that ain't happening lol.
