  • One for the Northies.

Without wanting to curse it the forecast looks inclement rather than biblical, proposing a 7pm start but open to alternatives.

  • I saw this as thunder literally rumbled overhead right now. I think that means good luck. In!

  • Now ice falling out the sky, worst snow of the summer so far.

  • Count me in too. It will be my first; do people usually ride the recommended mid-60s gearing?

  • Mostly between 66 and 74 depending on preference but a little either side of that wouldn't be an issue if it's what you're comfortable with.

  • Oh no just realised we'll be missing the Eurovision semifinal!

  • I'm sure it'll be on in spoons when we get there...

  • Go on then, as I'm down in London for the day

  • Nice 20mph southerly breeze forecast, gusting to 45. 40% chance of rain

  • It's looking particularly rainy here, I'm wavering sorry. Will confirm in 30 mins or so.

  • The wind is blowing the rain away, it'll stop very soon!

  • I'm gonna pass sorry, I don't think there's any way of avoiding getting a proper soaking on the ride out. Kent is looking much drier...

Hope you guys enjoy the ride and I look forwards to hearing about how the locals in 'spoons have missed us.

  • Fair enough, starting a ride with a soaking is no fun

  • I’m out for the same reasons I’m afraid. 😭

  • We dodged all the rain!

  • Jim and I had a little bit of rain on way back, but was dry by time we got to barnet(?). Was bit blustery when I was no longer drafting anyone tho. Had a slow puncture for the last 10km which didn't help the head wind situation. On the whole was a much more pleasant ride than those stormy horizons looked.

Those are the best rides! When you think you're about to get wrecked and then it never arrives...
