  • Yep, it’s that time again.. thanks to Object and Digger for creating this ride, to ensure that no one in our forum / bike community is alone on Christmas Day. For those not familiar with the routine and tradition..

    meet up
    chat
ride London’s famous streets minus traffic and shopping hordes
    eat festive treats
    share mince pies and sweets
share whiskey / whisky from hipster flasks
    look at stuff in windows
    drink coffee
    take group pic

  • Yep, around this year for it, definitely in. As long as no rain. Thanks for getting the ball rolling Al.

  • Yay!
Note to self... don't forget the f'in hip flask!

  • If anyone can recommend a good beer can holder for riding while drinking I would appreciate it

  • You can hold my bier too, if you want @dubkev

  • We could go all nigella lawson and have
prosecco, cranberry juice and cointreau cocktails by St. Paul’s Cathedral..

  • Was thinking I would put something in Time Out magazine about this, as something to do on Xmas day. Thoughts?

  • Do you have one of those??

  • Yes, please put a notice in Time Out, with link to this page. Please also state if you are attending at the top of the page so that I know how many mince pies to bring. And no I don’t have a bier carrier for my bike.
    best
    Al

  • Weather looks good for it at the moment

  • I'm in :)

  • I seem to have put my name down. I might come and meet you (will confirm on the morning) but not do the whole ride. Been off my bike for a few weeks and now have a stinking cold.

  • Hi @Shoosh, if you can get to Oxford Circus for 9am the ride isn’t very long. You are very welcome to join us. I’m heading back to East Ham afterwards via Bow roundabout and the Greenway

  • Great, see you there and then.

  • Thanks. It isn’t about the ride being long, it is about what a slowcoach I am, and wouldn’t want to hold you all up.

  • These rides are intended to be slow, we are meandering through central London, enjoying the fine company of forum friends and atmosphere of empty roads. All I ask is that you get to Oxford Circus for 9am. This ride is far shorter than most people’s commutes to work.

  • Maybe, if the weather is too bad.

  • Thanks for organising. I’m keen to join in. Though I’ll be late and have to meet you somewhere on route, as I’m racing in the Peter Pan Cup in the Serpentine at 9. And I’ll probably be on the penny. Be great, if by chance, you wanted to add Serpentine to the list of sites.....

  • I is in.

  • morning Kat, yes.. we will come via Serpentine please send me exact location of the race finish and we will sweep you up.. I can either adjust route to suit or perhaps change rendezvous point at your race finishing point, then you can escort us with your penny farthing cycling skillz to St Paul's Cathedral
