  • Fancy an off-road challenge, close to London?

    No entry fee!
    No winners!
    No prizes!

Just 50km of predominantly singletrack riding.

I'll stress now, that this isn't representative of the regular Epping Honey Badger rides, and will be quite ( though not ridiculously ) tough. Those regular rides are close to half this distance, with lots of stops, as I aim to make them beginner friendly, with nobody being left behind.

Reasonable fitness, and a fully functional bike will be required.

    More details soon

    Pete

  • Potentially in depending on dates. Have a knee issue that needs to be resolved.

  • It'll be during the first couple of weeks in May. Hope your knee improves in time :-)

    Edit - now April

  • Ach, I was hoping for more of a beginner ride. I'd really like to do one of yours this year.

    #eyespeeled

  • I was hoping for more of a beginner ride

Might do one of those the following day, depending on what condition I'm in by then :-)

  • Are we talking cross bikes suitable? I.e. if I put some 35's and a spinnier gear on the Genesis, would that work?

Also, @thross perfect for the Fuji I reckon!

  • In, pending the usual!

  • cross bikes suitable?

Totally. It'll still be a bit wet in places, so a decent all-round CX tyre will work.

  • the Fuji

What's this? Might explain why I've seen @thross hitting off-road routes recently.

  • Cool, I'll add it to the dairy.

  • in, with the riding crop and the handcuffs

  • Can everyone bring a wood saw with them please - some trail maintenance is required

  • What you two get up to at Easts should remain private.

  • Indeed! I've now got a 2015 Fuji Tread 1.3 which I bought from Rikki. He'd made several upgrades - Apex shifters, Sram x9 clutch rear mech, Northwave n/w chainring, 38mm Halo Twin Rails - but had only used it sparingly on road, so it was in great condition. So much fun being able to venture off the beaten track, and it's surprisingly capable, if a bit heavy.

I'll keep an eye on the date (got a few things planned in May) but this sounds ideal! Might invite Shane too, if non-forum folk are allowed?

  • i'll have plenty of sores by the end of the ride howard

  • Just to be clear

No sawing, or any other trail maintenance.

    No sessioning obstacles.

    Bare minimum of stops.

This is not a regular Badger ride. It's meant to be challenging :-)

  • Excellent. Yes, non-forum people welcome too.

There's also a facebook page for updates, if either of you are on there?

  • Great, I'll mention it to Shane. I'm not, but Fiona is, so I might get her to follow the page to keep me in the loop. I'll let you know, so she doesn't seem like a random person asking to join!

  • I'll let you know, so she doesn't seem like a random person asking to join!

You're all random people to me.

    ;-)

  • Ok, Saturday April 28th is the date.

  • Paging some long-absent Badgers @dimi3 @Tenners @Sparky

  • No sawing, or any other trail maintenance.

    No sessioning obstacles.

    Bare minimum of stops.

    So srs!

  • Would be in for this, but don't have a suitable bike!

  • No talking at the back there.

  • Date works for me, and Shane is game too, so we're both in unless something changes.
