ThunderCross is back for its second year at Canada Heights Motocross track in Swanley, Kent.

We'll be mapping out a course over the changing terrain of the motocross circuit and surrounding land. Expect gravel, dirt, tarmac grass and tunnels (plus maybe a bit of mud).

The day kicks off with the Open race where anything goes, so bring your track bike, your folding bike, your tandem or anything else you wouldn't normally be able to race on a cross course. We'll create categories and have prizes for as many different bike types as we can. Oh, and don't forget to dress unsuitably for good measure.

Then it's time for the main course. The Men's and Women's Cross races were hotly contested last year with some quality riders in the fields. It's the perfect race to close out your Cross season with or to prep for the SSCX European Championships.

There will be Men's and Women's Cross races and an Open race for those of you who want to race an inappropriate bike around the course and win prizes for being ridiculous and having fun.

    Tickets are available at: buytickets.at/nltcbmbc

    See you there!

  • Brilliant.

  • Can you please make it warmer this year?
    Thanks

  • Did anyone use the trains to get to this last year?

  • Yep it's doable.

  • Roboto-san, the link for buying tickets doesn't work, think you need a www. prefix for the link to take you to the right place.

  • Hey Andy. Yeah, I missed the https:// on the link. Should be working fine now.

Thanks for entering too, see you there :)

  • In other related news. We should have some news regarding the course layout soon and (more importantly) beer and food.

  • Excellent, thanks. Paid up..

  • The course map is now live.

We'll have some booze and soft drinks on site from our friends at The Crafty Horse Bar, who are travelling up from Sussex to keep you all hydrated. Should hopefully be confirming some food arrangements soon too.

  • If anyone wants to volunteer to help with a bit of marshalling on the day then send me an email at rob@nltcbmbc.com. All help will be appreciated.

  • Can't wait!

  • What time is the main race meant to begin?
I've just realised I have something planned that evening

  • We’re aiming for a 1pm start for the main race.

  • Cool that gives me plenty of time :)
    Thanks!

  • Looking forward to this. Looking at last years pics, please tell me other people get off to clear the logs.. I can't bunny hop a leaf.

Is there anywhere to stash my stuff while racing, prolly not but worth asking.

  • Is there anywhere to stash my stuff while racing, prolly not but worth asking.

We stashed in the race HQ container last year.

You taking the train out? I might come along.

  • There is a container with very limited (1 doorway) access you are welcome to store bits and bobs in.

Can't 100% vouch it's safety but we had no probs last year.

  • You might have to practice dismount/mounts..

    The logs were pretty small.
    :D

  • I have a few posters left I would like to get max eyeballs on (in particular to encourage Women and Open Racers).

I haven't been too well recently but think we have hit-up :
    Condor
    LMNH
    SBC
    Cloud 9
    Rapha
    London Velo
    London Bike Kitchen
    Cycle PS
    Brixton Cycles

I have 6 left, could I meet any y'all to help spread the word (posters by @roboto so always gonna grace whatever wall they adorn).

    Ta!

  • And Hell-Climb is def. back!
Might make it slightly longer to roast-heads and increase the crowd fun.

  • Ticket sales will close midday on Friday, so please get yourself signed up if you’re thinking of it. Entry on the day will be more expensive because dealing with cash and last minute admin to sign up is a headache.

  • Going to cycle into London and train from Victoria but depends on my other half, if she comes along to watch or not.

  • Course is open for testing from 11am.

    Open race starts at 12pm

    Main Race starts at 1pm

HELL CLIMB follows the end of the main race.

Podiums should be happening around 2.30-3pm

    Beer is happening afterwards.

About 38 hours (at time of posting) of ticket sales left to enter the race.
