  • Friendly, social, off-road rides around Epping Forest. No flashy MTBs or awesome skills/fitness required.

Several rides to come this September. Dates to be announced soon.

Here are just a few of the comments from last year.

''That was one of the best rides I've been this year!'' @dimi3

    ''Ridiculous fun.'' @7up

''Some really good riding and a nice variety of technical down hills
and good flat fire-road transfers between the sections.''
    @dicki

''Getting fresh cheese dough balls from him was an absurd win.'' @Howard

  • There's the potential for several rides during September, both weekend and weekday. I'll be adding & updating them as I know what they are.

Also just noticed there's a special section for Honey Badgers!

  • there's a special section for Honey Badgers!

    Because you're worth it.

  • @BareNecessities - Are we confirmed for the 9th?

Also - if anyone needs a ride up from SE I have a car with space for 2 bikes on a roof rack. Will depart 8:30 sharp.

  • Yep, Tuesday 9th of September is good.

  • Brilliant. Cheers! Will book the bike on Monday.

  • OK,a couple of questions:

    Do I need knobbly tyres?

Of I come up with aroogah on the ninth, what kind of time will we be finished?

  • Knobblies are advised. They don't need to be full-on mud tyres though.

If we start at 10.30am, then we'll be done by about 2.30 - 3pm.

What bike & sized wheels were you thinking of using?

  • @mashton - you'd be welcome to tag along but the one caveat for your timing is that I will be renting a bike so we'll need to factor in some time to drop it off. Looks like an hour and a bit drive from my place so we could be back at mine for 4:30-5:00 or so. If you're bringing your own bike and are tight for time, I'm happy to bring your bike back while you do the train thing and we can arrange returning at a later time. I'm pretty flexible.

  • I've just recalled that I have a hospital appt that morning anyway, so it's a no go.

I'll look into one of the other dates...

  • @Aroogah - If you're the only person with me that day ( you poor sod ), then I can be flexible with the time. So if you want more use from your hire bike, or just fancy riding till you drop....

If @7up is there, he knows his way around, so can leave whenever he likes :-)

  • I'm in on the 9th (but if i try to update the list the numbers vanish..)

@Aroogah where in SE are you leaving from?

  • if i try to update the list the numbers vanish

    Microcosm innit :-/

I'll add you to the list in bothwell's post.

  • Near Peckham Rye park. SE15.

I would normally just train it, but I really don't fancy lugging around extra shoes/stuff on my back all day.

@BareNecessities - Happy to be your sole victim for the day. Just hide my body well. None of this just cover me in leaves bollocks.
