Trek Boone for gravel?

  • Thinking about buying a used carbon Boone Disc that is in great shape. Has the ISO-speed and is well equipped, would be primarily for gravel riding and occasional fun racing (i’m not going to be a front to the pack guy and that’s OK). I have no intention of cyclocross racing or riding.

Can I put 40mm tires on that thing without any trouble? Favorite 700c40 tires that I can run tubeless but not break the bank? Has 32’s on it now. Any other detractors on going with the Boone?

  • wtb nano are good perhaps even great tyres. wtb quality control is a bit shit though, I have seen 4 or 5 wtb tyres that have cracked every where or bulged this year. see if you can find some tried and tested second hand ones and you’ll be grand. I actually have one on the front I could sell if you found a second? they come up a lot here as people upgrade to bigger and balder tyres as is the trend

  • thread needs @andyp

  • Boone clearances are not great, especially at the rear, so running 40c tyres might be a challenge.

I’d offer to check but sold mine.
