Sorry to hear that. World is a cruel place.
Might I suggest checking out local pawn shops. You should be able to pick one up for under £100.
I had an expensive bike stolen and a few days later it was on for sale in a local pawn shop for £30.

Wow... I'll try that. I would never have thought of buying from a pawn shop... thank you.

Yes this sucks. What is your budget? Have you had a look at the classifieds here or seen anything for local collection on eBay?
-

Thanks Squaredisk. I'm on the lookout everywhere. Budget is low. Been a tricky year between losing a job in late 2023 and kids at school so have to be careful.

I enquired about this, the seller said they would take £195…
Should fit you well as a 51cm

Decathlon / Btwin / Triban bikes from the last few years can sometimes be found under £100 on eBay in small size. Parents buy them for a teen and then they don't get used. They can be good starting point to search maybe! Good luck.

Thank you. I'll check out the link.

Ah... great tip. Thanks again Squaredisk. It's been a bit of a week, I went to a carol service last night to lift my spirits and got pickpocketed. Luckily, all they got was my house key. Staying in for the foreseeable. :-|

Gosh! What a rough time. Hope you get a Christmas bike sorted soon.

Definitely - I got a BTwin for my younger boy to take to uni - £80 delivered and its a frankly brilliant bike for the money.
That came from Retrobike, thanks to a tip from someone here so worth checking.

Is this it? It was posted on Gumtree 12 hours ago.

It's not but thanks very much for sending. Very kind of you. It's very similar. Just a brighter blue than this. What is the best thing to do if I do see it on Gumtree by the way?

Some advice on the first page of this thread, and plenty of discussion about whether or not you should attempt to recover your bike yourself... https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/176548/?offset=550#comment17549083

No problem. I had a my bike stolen from inside a nursery last month, while I picked my daughter up he buzzed himself into the nursery and made off with it (with child seat, and her helmet. It’s dire out there- there’s nothing you can put past some people.
I located it on gumtree a week later and even set up a meeting with the seller. After going to the police station, submitting all the evidence, and trying to get them to come with me, they still wouldn’t do anything and put in a variety of excuses to make me keep going around their admin system. This is unfortunately the state of things- stolen bicycles are low on their list. If possible I would advise trying to set up a meeting and get it back in the safest way possible. Whatever that looks like. -

Wow... that's some sick behaviour. A nursery. Your small daughter's helmet and seat. Really low behaviour. I'm sorry to hear of this and I hope you got sorted out (or come out ahead of all this). If I had any of those items I'd give you... Good luck to you and your little daughter.

Hmm yeah I don’t think mine was a kid. He looked like a grown adult from the CCTV… which makes even more grim

I have a hamax bike seat and clamp if you want.

I've got rid of a lot of my spare parts to a local charity but I've got a black near new 27.2 seatpost you can have.
Maybe some other bits, like old cassettes and similar. But probably not a lot of use if you're looking for a complete bike.

Thanks that’s very kind, but I just got a new Urban iki today

Still looking... A bit sick and tired and exhausted of the effort at the moment to be honest. Requested library to check CCTV, gave them crime number. They replied a week later saying it was off council property and they'll only respond to a request if the Police made it. Sent me an physical address - so up to me now to chase around. Checking Gumtree etc, pawn shops. It's exhausting. Thanks for checking in. Appreciate it. Happy Christmas.
Hi everyone, first time posting. My light blue Trek roadbike was stolen yesterday (they used bolt cutters to go through three locks - one of the locks was a D Lock). I'm gutted. It was my only way of getting around to school / volunteering / shops etc etc. Funds are low currently. I'm in North London area (N8 / N10). If anyone had a bike for sale or one they're not using any more I'd be very very grateful. Am lost without a bike and don't know how I'm going to get one. Bike was stolen outside library in N5 between hours of 9am and 2pm. It's similar to the picture attached but with straight handlebars (rubber a bit worn) and metal pedals (a bit wonky). I'm a 5ft 5in female by the way. Thank you.
