Thanks for the report, jj72. There's a stub here on the Standard site of a pedestrian death in Lytton Grove:
The picture shows a police cordon at the junction of the A3 West Hill with Lytton Grove, with a tent set up and a stationary tanker.
Either there were two deaths in Putney today, or this is a wrong report about someone who was actually riding a bike. If the crash involving the cyclist happened at the West Hill/Lytton Grove junction, it may be about the same event even if the details are wrong. The Standard piece doesn't seem to be based on a Met Police release, and there aren't any (yet) on the Met web-site.
And just to echo what everybody on Reddit is saying, your friend should make sure she gets psychological support. You could point her to RoadPeace:
Best wishes to her.
RIP victim.
Also, for the time being we shouldn't quote from the sources so far available. There will be emergency services press releases which will probably have accurate, if thin, details.

Yup, that’s the one

I'll do the black logo despite not knowing if this is a pedestrian or the cyclist... it's tragic either way.
but... not a precedent for the future, cyclists within M25 or members of the community... the ambiguity is the difference here

Here are two articles now based on police and LAS releases that state the victim was a pedestrian, which is at odds with the report from jj72's friend, to him and on Reddit.
https://www.yourlocalguardian.co.uk/news/24697323.lytton-grove-putney-man-20s-dies-crash-lorry/
https://www.mylondon.news/news/south-london-news/young-man-dies-after-being-30287199
This is clearly the crash at the junction of the A3 West Hill and Lytton Grove, and there doesn't seem to have been another. Either he really wasn't on a bike or the Human Forest bike that she reports he was riding wasn't associated with him by responders at the scene. We can't know either way, so the ambiguity persists, albeit no longer in official reports. It's tragic whatever the case may be.

So sad. RIP rider. Love to friends and family.
A friend of mine witnessed a young male cyclist on a Human Forest hire ebike was killed by a tanker turning left as he tried to undertake the lorry. No more details as yet.
