Does anybody have one thats reliable but cheap-ish? Don't know much about whats available... Would like to not use/risk my phone any more to show komoot routes.

Look on eBay for a Garmin 800, colour screen, no Bluetooth or anything (download routes via usb). Can be picked up pretty cheap and does a decent job.

Probably well over 6hrs, I guess it varies depending on how it has been used.
You used to be able to get replacement batteries, very easy to fit (the case just unscrews).

You can use any old android phone without a SIM - BikeGPS app will show a map and turning off everything apart from GPS gives quite good battery life
