There may have been an oem roof bar BITD e.g. This sort of thing, have a search of the site
https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/jlm9853-cycle-holder.htmlI think you're unlikely to find something though. And if you do you'll probably have to modify it. And even then I think the total weight plus 4 bikes could be too much for the roof.
Same goes for a universal bar setup (the https://www.roofbox.co.uk might be able to help for that)
I bet that sort of old jag could take a tow bar, so personally I'd be looking at installing one plus a tow bar carrier. https://www.roofbox.co.uk/bike-carriers/bike-carriers-racks-range-towbar-mounting.php

Thanks! I’ll check this out. I’ve been toying with the idea of a tow bar but don’t want to ruin the Jag’s lines…

Ooh, now these look interesting. Looks like a max of two bikes though, but that could be workable for a couple of years.

4 bikes on one rack is a bit of an ask. Maybe two on the roof and two on the back?

See if you can get a hitch mount instead of a towball and you won't ruin the silhouette or your shins when at the supermarket

I’ve now found the Seasucker goes up to 3 bikes, which would be perfect.
I’m not worried about the Jag, having been built at a time when everything was a lot more solid than today.
I think it was Clarkson who once reviewed it (he had one for a while, as did Hammond) saying it was made out of “rock and iron and churches”.
I’m looking for a car bike rack to carry up to 4 bicycles. Car is a late 90s Jag X300 series.
I’ve done a few searches on the forum but not found anything appropriate. Also online generally, but info seems thin on the ground.
Is there a decent universal bike rack out there that will carry the bikes safely without buggering up the paintwork on the car?! Ta 😊
