• A serious crash in Westminster today:

A woman has been left with potentially life-changing injuries after her bike collided with a lorry in Westminster.

Police and paramedics were scrambled to Parliament Square, near the junction with Bridge Street, around 11.30am on Wednesday.

Poor wording in the reporting, as often, and little information about what exactly happened.

Best wishes to the rider, but what has been reported does not sound good.

  • after her bike collided with a lorry in Westminster.

I'm almost certain it will have been the other way round

    Fingers crossed for the rider.

  • Steve Bray, the loud Brexit campaigner who's always hanging around Parliament Square, happened to catch this accident on camera and put it on Twitter today. Nothing graphic - from a distance. But quite a jarring coincidence. Really hope the rider pulls through and fully recovers.

  • Fortunately, nothing can be seen in that video, but it gives a vague idea of what happened. As Steve Bray suggests, it may be related to the traffic management around Starmer's motorcade, i.e. it's not clear which lane of vehicles had been released from Bridge Street by traffic signal operation. This will undoubtedly be examined owing to the police operation. If it were found that there was a failure of appropriately directing traffic, it might help the victim.
