Surf stuff, board wetsuit etc

I'm looking to try surfing so looking for a beginner board and wetsuit if anyone is selling.
I'm a 5'8 man and I guess after a foam top Long board?

I was thinking about shifting my 7ft 6" Surfworx Ribeye foamie as it's not getting used but looking at what a new one costs now i'm having second thoughts. It's in Bath but might be able to get it to London in a month or two. Where and how often are you thinking of going? Most surf beaches have board hire for around £10, in hindsight i probably would just hire as i surf very infrequently and a surfboard on the roof sucks for travel and fuel consumption. Some surf shops have second hand suits you can try on (recommended). There's a surf thread, probably worth asking there.

EDIT: having a badly strapped down surfboard sucks for fuel consumption but either way it's hassle a beginner could do without.

...looks pretty cool on the roof of a Saab 900 though.

Ha! Last time i had it on the M4 some guy was waving at me and i was all like "yeah, hang loose bro" but he was pointing out i'd done shit job of strapping it down and it was about to fly off.

It did, on the services exit.
