I’m in Calgary for a week or so. Have a Topstone rental, was thinking of riding out to Le des Arcs, 1 or 1A the better option? Or something else?

Any other good rides/ routes I’m based in Crescent Heights.

Go to Canmore and ride the bikepath to Banff.

If you see a grizzly gtfo. They are extremely dangerous.

Sage advice. I’m planning to ride/ hike a bike over Jewell pass pepper spray in tow.

When I hike there we hang bells on our backpacks.
Grizzlies usually avoid humans but if you surprise them they get angry. So make noise, ring your bell, or chat a lot.

And use specific bear spray, in the big cans, not the pepper spray.

In Portland we bought bells that Velcro to your handlebars and jangle all the time. Supposedly would scare any bear off, but also useful to alert hikers
