These are great! Took me a while going in the wrong direction, but satisfying still.

Past 2 days have been instant ones. As a kid, used to do the DT cryptic daily in my dad's paper, which was usually not too difficult (Tele's model back then was to try to suck in those transitioning from working- to middle-class with a good sports section, not-too-hard crossword and centre-right opinion pieces), then graduated to harder Graun one. Haven't done it in 20-dd years, but the thinking comes back.
