Standard write-up of the same police release:
This article has a picture that is claimed to be of the damaged bike:

Here's another piece on the MyLondon web-site for which someone seems to have gone to the scene and taken pictures of the police tape and an officer guarding the crash scene. They also speculate that the damaged bike shown is the crash victim's bike. I should have twigged this earlier and looked on StreetView; it is in fact an abandoned bike that's been there since at least July 2022 (when it was considerably less damaged):
So, nothing to do with this crash at all.
The police tape is in Cannon Street Road south of the junction with Cable Street. I don't think it's possible to conclude anything from that.

Interesting that two people were arrested. One of them drove into the cyclist and the other one drove away?

No, I'm not informed any better than the Internet. I'll check occasionally, but experience says there's unlikely to be any more reporting until the trial and/or inquest. We'll see. There are other discussions about it on-line, but no useful information in them that I can see, so I won't link to them. Anyone can find them if they want to.

Pretty lazy journalism.
I think I'd go with 'inept journalism' here. It looks to me as if someone clearly wanted to do something but didn't have the wherewithal to do proper reporting. There's just no proper coverage of most incidents these days, only the ones that are unusual and therefore 'newsworthy'.
Anyway, let's keep to posting things directly relating to this crash if we find any.

This appeal for witnesses was put out on the 10th October, may still be worth posting. The investigation doesn't seem to have progressed beyond this:
Following an investigation by detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) six people were arrested in connection with the investigation.
Three men, aged [A] 45, [B] 24 and [C] 23 were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision. They were subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries.
Two women and a man were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision. They were later released with no further action.
