Waterbed ! - warm in winter / cool in summer / great support / eases aches after a long bike ride - can have separate mattresses in a double or KS so can tune to each person. get 95% damped one

Memory foam. I can't remember the brand. We had a cheap one that was nice and now we have a less cheap one that's also nice.

Yeah Eve. Emma. Rachel. Susan. Becki. All the same really.
I think we have an Eve. It's comfortable but very warm in Summer (which is a lovely couple of days in Scotland)

Are you actually talking about mattresses? Or 'things I've slept on' :D
The more expensive one has some kind of cooling holes or something and then there's gel covers or cooling toppers or something you can add if/when it's hot. Summer being wet and 16C though I don't see much need here.

Do I need to reinforce the floors in my house?
Water bed sounds very cool.

I’m always boiling. Last night I had a fan on me and still felt like I was on fire.
In the summer our current mattress feels like it stores that heat and makes me warmer.

My wife has just bought an Emma mattress that was in a sale. It's a bit weird, but it's nice and comfy

Some interesting reviews on there

Gonna be honest, I slept in the soho house rooms that I just bought the mattress they had. Having looked at the reviews mine certainly hasn't wrnt like that.
My only gripe with it, is the mattress is heavy as fuck.

Our bedroom is cold. We sleep like the undead. That helps.
Look for cooling toppers then perhaps

We got this mattress when I had a bad back. Really great and has helped a lot.

Check out the John Lewis clearance section as well. I bought my daughter a new mattress, one of their natural collection, it was an unwanted customer order reduced from £3k to £600

Another vote for Emma, we're on our second one due to change of bed size when moving and both have been extremely comfortable and good value. I've definitely slept on some hotel mattresses that have been comfier but I suspect they would have been many multiples greater in price...
I did sleep on a particularly wonderful hotel mattress earlier this year, so wonderful it prompted me to email the hotel and ask for the brand... a French company called G. Springs though I investigated no further and don't know where you would get one...

I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole of emperor sized mattresses

no need - yes it is full of water but the weight per sq foot is no difference from having a room full of people in the same space.

We went for a fairly standard memory foam mattress in the end from a company called Dusk. Primarily because it came as a deal with a new bed.
So far so good, sleeping very well. Apart getting up in the night for a wee, buts that’s me being 40.
Our mattress is coming to the end of its life and we need a new one. I appreciate trying a mattress will be worth a thousand comments but it’s quite a commitment and I want to get it right.
The mattress we currently have is great but they no longer make it. It’s lovely because it’s hard af. But it does get hot in summer. Naturally I’m always boiling, winter or summer. My wife cold regardless of whether it’s summer not.
Any experience or recommendations are welcome.
