I’ve just heard about this. Rufus “Red” was the son of friends of mine and an incredible cyclist. He was a keen audax rider and cycle tourist who embarked on some incredible rides.
He completed a Randonneur around the year award ( a 200k in every month of the year) last year at the age of 12. That was not the most impressive of his cycling exploits, his list of achievements is incredible for such a young man.

Despite having never met the lad (nor his family), this really shook me up when I read about it yesterday. I followed his adventures from afar and was so inspired by what he achieved at such a young age. An unimaginible loss. RIP.
