Beater-quality 26” fork/wheel(set) (Bristol)

The inevitable spiralling costs of a project that should’ve been cheap has left me with the following shopping list if anyone can help.

Rigid v brake/canti fork, 1 1/8” threadless, at least 15cm of steerer, 400mm atc or thereabouts. The more mounts the better.

Rim brake rear wheel or wheelset. 8+ speed.l freehub.

26 fork?

Yeah, something to replace this one that doesn’t have a crown race seat.

won’t a race sit on the little ledge? have you tried a really thick crown race set with a race that isn’t split, like a fsa pig?

…i have one i am happy to send for beer/postage (tho it will need an overhaul)

You tried Bristol Bike Project in Easton? They must have a load of bits that need a bit of love for not a lot of money

Very much appreciate the offer but I don’t think it’ll work. The steerer measures a straight 28.6mm all the way down

This is a good shout and I don’t know why I didn’t think of it. Last time I was there they had a NOS full carbon Look 1” fork for £30!

I’ve got a rear wheel kicking around. Shimano 8sp+ on Mavic d521 sup. There’s a tiny bit of play in the freehub (some rare old LX silent clutch hub so not replaceable) so you won’t want to buy it, but you’re welcome to borrow it if that helps keep your costs down in the meantime
