Renovated by Argos but not an Argos

  • Picked this up this morning.
Threads are good - plan is to get the heat gun out and strip off the paint to see what lies beneath… looks like it’s fillet brazed but the serial number isn’t an Argos

  • Looks like the seat post size is 24mm … which apparently is the size used on old french bikes.

  • Good clearance on the rear for probably a 35c and would need a band on for down tube shifters.

  • interesting frame. is that for a 1 1/8 steerer?

also appears to have some kind of boss where the shifters go, maybe for some bolt on cable stop?

  • That boss is to keep band mounted shifters from sliding down the downtube. They were common before braze on shift levers.

  • 1” head tube , 130mm rear spacing , old type brake caliper fixing, 1.85kg as is

  • Nice!
I have an old frame with brazed on diamonds to stop the DT shifters slipping and the FD dropping down, very subtle.

  • ah i see. very cool!
