The hardest part is finding the frame...

This is some of the stuff I’ve gathered so far. In less some cheap SS brake leavers turn up I’ll be using the Gevenalles and a down tube shifter for the front mech when I’m ready. Also waxed a chain for the build too.
@D_Mars thanks. For that, like it, I’m hoping to keep things on the “sporty” side, my x2 chainset is currently a very ambitious 53/38.
@kjlem yeah, I’ve been on the lookout for 6months. I’m a bit of an unabashed surly fanboy, already having a roller, a midnight special and a retired crosscheck, but have struggled to find a pacer so far. I currently have an all city Mr Pink with a pacer fork. I’m not totally sure it’s going to be a keeper long term. It’s one of the ones with a Pressfit BB I had no idea a steel frame had been made with that standard.

You can get threaded adapters for pressfit bottom brackets.

Have you used either set of brakes before? I had both on my All City Mr Pink when I had that. The TRPs were much, much better!

@MisterMikkel that's interesting and I didn't find that when I was looking for a solution, I've ended up with one of those sram nylon adaptors which doesn't sound like the best option.
How does that adaptor work, does it friction fit into the BB shell ?
@ltc No not used either, once I'd bought the TRPs they where the only thing I was going to use, I think they where £100 more expensive than tektro's

Honestly, I haven't been able to find a manual for that product - but it is pictured with a locking compound, so probably relies on that.
Other option would be to have have T47 threads cut in the BB.. Which is probably what I would do. -

Yeah that Pacer is well rad. I must admit I'd written off the idea of having a carbon fork until I'd seen that. I wasn't aware that Whisky had made a rim brake fork with 35mm clearance.
I'm now in the process of talking myself out / into buying one. There not cheap, if you want to by one from a shop that actually has stock and doesn't have terrible trust pilot reviews.

Got a bit of time last night to start the build, a slightly improvement in the weather has given my a bit more motivation.
Fitted the BB, I did try hitting it with a rubber mallet first but that wasn’t going to work. My really rubbish headset press worked much better.
I’m not total sure I’m going to be sticking with the pacer fork, it’s just a bit too noodlee compared to the fat tubes of the mr pink.

I think the fork looks great!

That looks bloody great. I didnt know you bought this....
Looks really good with forks. Silver hubs and headset is a nice touch too.

Yeah maybe I need to finish up the build and then consider further, that being said, are you really trying to talk me out of spending money on bike parts I don't need. What is this place coming too!
Had been looking at these, the condor fork has all the right numbers (other than no details on tire clearance, but it's got to be fine for 35s surely) I like the kind of Kona project 2 style straight blades. https://www.condorcycles.com/products/condor-pioggia-steel-fork?variant=2627677782026
Or there's one of these, which is silly money, but would look nice.

The surly fork is way better looking than that Condor fork.

I'll join the crowd dissuading you from contemplating to switch the forks because they look great.
Had some Surly forks on one of those cheap alu Dolans and called it Dolandale and that looked very good, let alone on this much more classic steel frame.
Maybe adding white socks like the frame would help to tie it together but I'ld be more inclined to do the opposite and get rid of the white socks on the frame. -

Honestly, I haven't been able to find a manual for that product - but it is pictured with a locking compound, so probably relies on that.
It's for BB30 which is pressfit but is slightly different to PF30 so not compatible. You do indeed press it in with a locking compound and it becomes semi permanent in the frame.

Surly forks look good to me. When i started that thread i was exploring something very similar and slightly regret not seeing it through. The Mr Pink would have been my ideal starting point so it's over to you now!

That's so rad, fork looks great on that, despite my comments about wanting a fatter fork. I was wondering about trying to pick up some second hand 303s or the like, but my experience with rim brakes and cardon rims isn't great, the performance is rubbish.

All this talk has made me pull this frameset out of the loft, I think a pair of 35(ish)s are in order. I’ve some 10 speed DA somewhere as well. Keep up the good work.

I've got very obsessed with this https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/387681/?offset=75 thread. There was a time when I really wasn't into the look of rim brake bikes anymore but I'm getting old and tastes change and whilst I still ride fixed most days, on the days I end up in the Southdowns the hills aren't getting easier anymore so it time for something simple / sensible.
I've been buying random stuff on ebay to add to my mood board not really knowing where I'm going with it, I was hoping to do it relatively cheaply but I'm already failing at that.
The current parts bin includes:-
The general idea is to get something running on a X1 set up before moving to a more roadie 2x.
