the canon second bike imo (canon first bike arkose obv)
what grips and tyres are you thinking?
-
• #3
Lovely! Be interested to know if you find any suitable gumwalls

Maybe ESI Extra Chunky grips and then need to see if I can go a bit fatter on the tyres as billy bonkers aren’t that wide and I’d like maximum comfort

I have a set of 2.4 vans bmx tires on my, frame clearance is fine but had to replace the fenders. 2.4 is plush. Bmx bars also make them extremely fun to ride.

Oh nice, I like the bars - I hadn’t thought of that. So maybe I can’t fit 2.4 tyres as the lights are all integrated into the mudguards and would be a pain to change

Nice style. Good to know the big boots fit the rim brake version.

bit of a glow up for the cockpit of my katu this week: some new ESI extra chunky grips, spurcycle compact bell (significant upgrade on stock bell) and some restrap rack straps for the basket…
anyone else have shifting issues with their katu? shifts can be pretty laggy even after doing the recommended cable maintenance with the little yellow marker. might be I’m just used to using derailleurs and this is par for the course on hub gears…

Are you laying off the pedals whilst you shift? Sorry if this is teaching you to suck eggs but it'll shift much more smoothly if there's little to no power going through the hub as you shift.

this was exactly it ! thanks, I didn’t know about this. have always just been pedalling through the shifts like a derailleured bike. was out today and shifting didn’t miss a beat

Liz had the opposite going back to her derailleur bike after the winter on her hub geared one.

lovely, is that the standard kickstand or did you upgrade?
-
• #13

• #14
those straps are amazing

Nice! Can't believe I've finally done something useful. That tip goes for all hub gears as far as I know (all of the ones I've used anyway).

is there any use for the bosses on the underside of the top tube

Hah this is pretty much the only e-bike that interests me

I think I saw this bike on my commute couple weeks ago - do you go down Millbank by any chance? Made me want to buy one immediately :)
-

I’ve been riding to Victoria most days but don’t go as far as Millbank. It’s a fun little bike, although you quickly max out on the pedal assist

Someone near me has the non e bike version which they use to carry their sea swimming kit.
Very jealous, would love one.

My partners one. We switched out the bars, added Maxxis tyres, suspension seat post and new saddle.

Fits 2.4 tyres with the original mudguards, bit of fettling to make it work

Took receipt of this yesterday, very nippy on sport mode.
Will probably change the grips, saddle and maybe get some gum wall tyres. Would like to mount another basket on the back for extra capacity.
