  • After the disastrous cracking of my Mizuno bar because of a wrongly installed star nut I’m in need of a new bar for my Benotto. Anyone have any thoughts on a full carbon or one with an alloy steerer is better?
I’ve seen a few NOS Mizuno bars on eBay which look nice but are full carbon. There’s the Columbus Minimal which I’ve heard good things about and finally the Ritchey one with the alloy steerer. Not to keen on the logos on that one though for a vintage 80s frame.

  • Alpina 1” fork from here still available https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/392123/#comment17262591

  • Thanks but I’m going to bite the bullet and get a new set for peace of mind this time.

  • No worries, in answer to your original question, imo back when 1” threadless steerers were being produced carbon was still very much in its infancy.
Therefore I’d only really use ones with carbon steerers from the likes of LOOK, Easton and a couple of other brands

  • Tifosi is another budget option. Been around plenty of time, so I assume they are fine.
