well that was a bust, rode out of munich in 4 degrees. was snowing heavily by half way. i abandoned the trail and rode on the road to make more headway and for the sake of visibility but this became too dangerous too. the half foot high piles of slush between tyres tracks on the road drenched me as idiot drivers drove through them at speed when over taking. i got rescued by a lady in a guesthouse near Achersee lake.

What a start! It can only get better from here. Keep safe.

thanks i am back now. I had to take one or two extra flix buses to get me over the Alps. I re-started and rode a shorter leg across from Verona to Venice. But that was 30-40mph winds and drenching rain. A nice time in Venice, then back to Germany to start the return. Mannheim - Kolm is very easy and very lovely. There to hook of Holland is less so but still interesting and easy, as in no hills. However, I did this in, like, two and a half days and didn't really let myself enjoy it because I was done with being away by that point. I have to say, all in all bit glad no one came with me!

That's some pace!
Hi All
I will be with my bike on the 28th of April leaving Munich hoping to set out for the UK. I currently don't have a route or much of a plan. I had thought to go via Paris; or to Calais via Belgium, or to Hook of Holland in order to get back to home in London. I anticipate I will need to get trains to shorten my journey as I only have a week but I am a fit cyclotourist so hope to get a good ride in too.
If any of your existing plans overlap with any of the options I am considering, may I join you? Or if you want to join me perhaps we can come up with a route together and see how far we get before I have to hop on a train.
