A cyclist has been killed after a collision with a car yesterday. A man in his 60s was killed after colliding with a car on the slip road for Red Hill Circle, travelling towards Beaumont Leys.

Police were called to a report of an incident at 7pm yesterday (Monday, October, 16), involving a cyclist and a grey Audi A4. The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, while the four passengers in the Audi were not injured. No arrests were made.

I use the crossing at the bottom of this slip road fairly regularly on my commute, and would have been in the area around 30mins beforehand.

no cycling infra, poor lighting, three lanes leading up to a set of lights that don't stay green for long so are regularly ignored by drivers.
50mph into a 40 onto the sliproad, but mostly ignored if people are racing to get through the lights.

I grew up in Birstall, all routes around red hill circle have always been shit.

thought i'd share this report of another incident at the same traffic island.
a cyclist was deliberately rammed off his bike after an altercation with a driver following a close pass.
the driver already had a previous conviction for dangerous driving.
2 yr suspended sentence and a 2 yr driving ban. ffs.

The fatally injured rider has been named as Hari Narayan, aged 67
