My Karcher Window Vacuum (highly recommended bit of kit) has just conked out after about 4 years. It seems to charge but now only runs for about 10 seconds and then stops. It will turn on again a few seconds later, but then only for about another 10 seconds.
Dismantling
it isn't too hard and replacement batteries are about a tenner compared to £70 for a new one. The odd thing is that when I dismantled it to check the battery, it's happily putting out 3.9V, which is higher than its 3.65V rating, so I'm not sure it's the battery that's the issue. Thoughts? -

Maybe the 3,65V is the nominal voltage? 4,2 max?

Is that the resting voltage or under load? Li Ion will have a lower cut-off voltage where the BMS should disconnect the cell to prevent over-discharging.
Edit: ignore this next bit because it looks like it runs on a single Li Ion cell.
The BMS often balances the battery by bringing down the voltage of the higher cells to that of the lowest one. Low capacity can often be a result of the weakest cell in the pack dragging everything else down. -

That's with the battery still attached to the board but the device not running. It's an ICR18650 battery, so I'm not sure if that's multiple cells.

Like this, I was going to link to dean doherty for someone for something, but this is a guy being paid to do it (although he is showing the process..) thing is, at what point does getting a soldier out and buying circuits count more as just being an electronics whizz. Guess it's obvious and the manufacturer should put in/ do it
