  • I need to make space so this needs to go. It has been the victim of my tinkering over the last few years so it's a bit different to stock and needs some love and paint.

Reynolds 853, rides great on and off road
It is a cx frame so it's limited to about 40c tyre for a slick, 38 for knobs... Makes a good winter road bike or light gravel bike. Rides nice.

I have removed the usual cable routing on the top tube and replaced with double bolt on bosses so can only be used 1x with full outer and hydro or full outer brake.
It has mudguard bosses added to the dropouts and the bridges were moved and bosses added.
It has a reinforced hole in the front of the downtube for dynamo light routing and a hole near the right hand dropout for the wire.
The areas where I've changed bosses have not been repainted and there's a bit of surface rust but I'll scrub it off.
The paint finish on the rest is a crappy hammerite.

Frame sold, fork and headset still available

  • Measurements and pictures to come

  • Catnip, but (likely too small and) disc brakes huh?
    Interested to see pics anyway.

  • Never mind. Can't read.

  • GLWS. Love mine, currently set up as 1x with 38mm deep carbon wheels, but normally runs 37mm gravel kings or 35mm cx tyres on hope XC hoops.

  • Yes, let's see pix pls

  • dibs, but want to see pics.

  • The Norco fork has an integrated crown race so won't work with the CK actually so it'll be £200 with Norco fork and standard headset or £350 with Chris King and Enve fork

Should be able to get a pic tonight

  • Also tempted! Measurements would be great if you have time :-)

  • Right all, here are some terrible photos

When I had this as a road bike, I made a fillet brazed 120mm stem which I can include for free or not, whatever, it's a bit rough but pretty burly.

I'd prefer to let it go in this configuration as the fork already has the crown race fitted for the CK on the frame.

I can also include the Chinese fake Enve seatpost if you so desire.

Post mount front and rear (IS with adapter at the back)

Also has an additional bottle cage boss inside the downtube for slamming the bottle down when using a frame bag and an additional pair of bosses for a 3rd cage under the downtube, all added by yours truly. And reinforced hole near the headtube for Dyno routing although no mount on the crown of the Enve CX fork.

Send it to Steve at Aurum for a fresh black powder coat and it'll be a rad gravel bike packing bike for many years to come.

£350 as in the photos (saddle not included)

  • The steel stem has a tall stack, still needs an extra spacer in the photo but with a regular alloy stem, there's enough steerer for 25mm of spacers maybe

  • I can also let the SRAM Force 1x11 hydro groupset go that I had on this for £300
    Shifters and brakes working well
    175mm cranks with 42t I think
    Rear mech
    No cassette or chain

  • Hmmm definitely could grab this, awaiting a response on another post
Will take this if I can’t get that
Sell it in the meantime if you get an offer

  • You ever had 650b/47 in there?

  • Nope sorry, not tried

  • I don’t suppose you will get a very big tyre in there as both the seat stays and chain stays are straight tubes?

  • Not huge no. I ran 40 slicks and it was fine but I recently ran a 40 with tread and it rubbed a touch

Photo of before I messed with it and took off the paint, 700x40 fitted

  • cool. i think i def need a front derailleur so pulling out, unless the top stop gets magically added and a third routing option on the top tube.

also, the people want to know if the enve fork is Tapered ? and #Which? Taper

  • It's an Enve CX fork, 1-1/2" taper, post mount brake, 100x12mm thru axle

Headset is Chris King Inset 8 1-1/2"

  • Bump £340

  • £320 for an Enve fork, Chris king, Reynolds 853 frame

  • Any interest if it's split?

  • Surprised he hasn't left yet. If he was on the other side of the English channel, he would have ended up at my house.
