Posted on
  • Hello, after one of these for not daft money, beater is preferable - Athena, chorus whatever - much thanking in advance, Matt

  • Hi, I've got one going spare. I can dig it out from the shed tomorrow and send a picture.

  • Awesome thank you šŸ‘šŸ»

  • Hey, I've got one going Ā£30 posted 1st class?

  • Updated thread title as seatpost sorted! Cheers all

Iā€™m not on the hunt for:

    1ā€ Campagnolo headset (threaded)
Silver rim brake wheels - something like tb14/open pro

  • Iā€™ve got a few headsets. Any particular model, style, year? Say 80ā€™s to 90ā€™s maybe?

  • Think I have a Chorus or Record 1" headset, I'll try and remember to check later

  • Iā€™m after one of the chunky ones - ā€˜C record eraā€™ - I swear I used to know all this stuff years agoā€¦ itā€™s for a late 80s early 90s gazelle -

  • Mine doesn't have the tall top nut - no good?

  • I built these and never used them:

Bitex hubs on DCR Flirt 30mm polished silver rims - 20/24h, Campagnolo freehub. New condition, maybe a few tiny scratches. Nice and lightweight at around ~1500g. Bought as parts for ~Ā£300, built carefully into wheels, then shelved. Offered for Ā£255 ONO

  • Itā€™s the tall top nut I want rid of!

  • Here, Iā€™m just checking whether the one on the left is Chorus or Recordā€¦ the others are Record (fairly modern type) in middle and mid-90ā€™s Chorus on the right.

  • If the OP doesnā€™t want the third (Chorus, on the right), I could interested depending on your price?
    And apologies for threadBarging :(

  • Sure, letā€™s see what @mattyc might be into first.
I think the ā€˜big top nutā€™ one (but not the crazy massive top nut on the bike now!) is a C-record.
By the way, all are English thread.

  • Iā€™m into the C record one, how much would you like?

@crossedthread get involved, no stress šŸ‘šŸ»

  • Lovelyā€¦ not exactly what I had in mind for this build but still of interestā€¦ out of curiosity do you know where I can get silver bitex rim brake hubs? I was thinking 32h for the gazelle, should have specified but these would be great for another frame I haveā€¦ will be in touch

  • Prices seem all over the place for these. This is pretty tidy, with the slightest hint of tool marks on the top nut (close up here, picture makes it look probably worse than it does when on the bike, and to the eye, if that makes sense).
How does Ā£45 posted sound? If Iā€™m way out do shout.
Iā€™ve dropped a PM on the Chorus @crossedthread

  • Sure, PM me if/when you'd like them for the other build. There's a chance I'll build a posh audax bike with them, but it's unlikely.

These silver hubs are actually resold by DCR Wheels under their own brand, but I am 99% sure the OEM is Bitex because the hubs are identical to Bitex hubs and DCR's Instagram featured a visit from Bitex.

    Otherwise there's always thecycleclinic:

  • I have hope hubs laced to some double walled touring rims? Silver on silver on silver etc?

  • Tell me more!

  • Also interested if no good for mattyc. whereabouts are you roughly please?
