And this is frankly astonishing for what looks like just a trio (found through the sadly inactive https://afacemeltingblogofstaggeringriffage.blogspot.com/ )

This should be a good thread.

Here's a blazing bit of instrumental for you: https://youtu.be/ufR9ZEjlnfI

Nice!
The audio on this one isn't from the live performance, but the outfits are totally worth the mismatch.

So much goodness in there, I love the brass section.

Bought this album for £1 in a car boot sale in the 90's. Me and a couple of mates used to go hunting for 70's funk at car boots most weekends. It can be picked up now for around a fiver, which is pretty good value in my opinion!

And here is something a bit different, it is a house/deep house track, but that guitar.....

My all-time fave Hammond funk instrumental, paid a fortune for my copy back in the late 90s then Jazzman reissued it! Nice to have a cheap copy of Hot Pants Breakdown now tho'. Marvel at the frenetic, syncopated urgency of the Soul Tornado's. Never a guaranteed floorfiller which always surprised, annoyed and depressed me in equal measure. Enjoy!

And one more. Eddie Bo masquerading as Roy Ward. If you're really quick on the decks you can flip this one over and play the pt.2 as well. Very silly and super fun, I love this 45 so much. I've got a white label promo, you can still get this for not crazy money.

Lovely stuff!
Love a bit of Bo - had Hook and Sling on the turntable earlier today, with the crackers James Black drumming. Think he did a few sessions on Scram recordings.

Those late 60s NOLA drummers were out of this world! Zigaboo et al. Apparently they all got their shit from Smokey Johnson, this track is fantastic, another much cherished NOLA funk 45.
I can't find a funk thread on here, so Funkateers Assemble! Post your favourite tunes, live performances and channels here for all to enjoy.
Scary Pockets are a recent find for me: https://youtube.com/@ScaryPockets
