CD collection.

Announced on the radio today was the fact that 22 was the year records outsold CDs for the first year since 85!? In light of this and , due to me not playing them, where is best to pass on a collection of about 2500 CD albums? Thoughts? Free to anyone who wants to collect. Based in Bristol.

Also, I took 2 lovely mini systems to the recycling centre today, a nice Yamaha with piano wood speakers and a lovely Denon in a fetching champagne colour. Sad times...

I got rid of a load of my cds to music magpie. They give you fuck all for each one but if you have that many...

It's free postage to send them in as well, just have to sit and scan all the barcodes with your phone.

They won't take them all so I donated the rest to the nearest charity shop.

We got rid of about that many to a second-hand record shop. They didnt give much for them (a few hundred maybe?) but came and collected. They just glanced over the titles and checked a few at random but there must have been some empty cases etc as I've found a few orphaned CDs since.

I'm going to have some more to get rid of soon. My plan is to photograph and see if anyone here or locally wants any, and take the rest to a second hand shop in Bromley, if they want them.

What genres are we talking about?

Was in a charity shop the other day that does 8 CD's or DVD's for £1, so much money invested by someone at one point and now basically worthless

If you know you have some decent stuff in there and can bear the hassle of selling, you'd be surprised at what you make back. I had a small modest collection of around 450 CDs. Made back almost 3k. Admittedly I was (unknowningly) buying limited/small run and obscure stuff.

I didn't get on very well with Rat when I was selling my dad's record collection. The bloke offered me peanuts for the lot, then fobbed me off with how the asking price and actual sale price on Discogs are very different things, but one of his latest sales was a record I had (Rolling stones something or other), and that single LP sold for more than he offered for the whole collection.

It was my ex's CD collection and they didn't want anything much for them, just wanted rid. Plus we don't drive.

I've been strong armed into keeping them. I mean, 2k plus is a lot of history, memories, and coin. Maybe my kids will enjoy looking through them and asking who is/was Jellyfish or Ryan Adams and what's this odd looking one, Cream, the Goa mix. Thanks all
