Cotic X flat bar gravel/ commuter tank

Posted on
  • For sale is my commuter. Everything in the photos is included, I can root out some crappy flat pedals if you wanted to ride it away.
The frame is a Cotic X, marketed as a CX bike but sporting all sorts of mudguard/ rack mounts. The frame is nominally a 56 but it fits more like a 54, I'll attach the marketing spiel with all of the details, plus the geo chart below. I'm not sure what the forks are but they've got absolutely loads of clearance and all of the mounts you could possibly need. The frame is generally in good condition for a 10 year old bike, apart from some minor paint scuffs and some minor damage to one of the cable guides, see photo attached.

It's built up with quite a selection of parts. The drive train is 1x9 speed Shimano with a 40t N/W Raceface chainring and a mix of 105, Alivio and Acera. It shifts surprisingly well.

The brakes are super strong Deore hydraulics with a 160mm rotor at the front and a 140mm rotor at the back. You can lock up either wheel with a single finger. The downside of these brakes is that the frame isn't designed for the hydraulic hoses so I've had to tape the hose for the rear brake to the top tube, rather than using the cable guides.

The wheels are Bontrager with 35c Gravelkings. They run pretty smoothly and the rear makes a super fun, obnoxious bee sound when coasting.
I can include the Pitlocks and some standard QRs.
SKS Bleumels and flaps included. The guards are cable tied to the chainstays due to an odd lack of mounting points in that area. It was meant to be a temporary fix but has been like that since I built the bike and has worked absolutely fine with no rattling so I never got round to a more sophisticated fix.

Cockpit is a 100mm Easton E70 and some no brand risers. Seatpost is Bontrager, saddle is a ratty Flite.

Also included is the Specialized Pizza Rack, super practical, you can chuck all sorts of stuff on that bad boy. I can include a custom made bag from @user71349 (see attached photo) for an extra £25 if needed.

Cotic designed Heat Treated Cromoly tubeset
    high strength, low weight.
Large diameter thinwall tubing with Ovalform top tube give responsive and supple ride.
Signature Cotic wishbone stay rear end. Bridge-less S-bend chainstays with Cotic Hexten gussets for improved fatigue life and massive mud clearance.
Superlight CNC machined and pocketed dropouts with replaceable mech hanger.
NEW: the new version of the frame includes rear rack mounts
Confident geometry and handling with semi-compact frame layout.
Ovalform top tube with no cable stops for comfortable shoudlering. Smaller diameter tubes compared to carbon or aluminium frames give very open front triangle for getting the bike on your back.
Twin down tube bottle mounts for those longer riders. A 500ml bottle fits next to the head tube with a 750mm bottle behind it. Or run just a 500ml at the top and still have plenty of space for shoudlering the bike.
Designed with plenty of clearance for tyres up to 42c.

Selling as a full bike, collection preferred from SE20 but can potentially meet in most places in London. Please let me know if I've missed something.

Dibs followed by a PM if keen please!

Asking for £625 with cheap Trek front rack £650 with pizza rack, as pictured or £675 with pizza rack and custom bag to fit said rack.

    SOLD

  • I'd be interested in the bag if you'd split?

  • Super nice that

  • If nobody is interested in the full bike with the bag it's all yours! I'll let you know.

  • Sound thanks. GLWS!

  • In fact, it's worth mentioning, there's a minor issue with the bag. I overloaded it and the plastic clips for the straps have started to crack. I'm sure these could be easily replaced with something a bit sturdier if needs be. Excuse the crappy photos.

  • Interested in rack and bag if it goes to splitting and Dexter doesn't want it.

  • Cool, will bear that in mind.
Not trying to stiff myself out of a sale but the bag was really reasonably priced and excellent quality if anyone was thinking of ordering one direct from the maker!

If someone wanted the bike but wasn't fussed about the pizza rack, I could take that off and replace it with a smaller Trek touring rack and knock off £25.

  • No worries. I should have mentioned it a great looking bike. I wanted one of these so bad a few years back.

  • I should say, I'm in the market for an "all road" wheelset. 100/142 thru axle. I'd consider a part exchange for something like that!

  • I could do with shifting this fairly quickly if possible! Price drop to reflect that.

  • What size human is this setup for at the mo? Around the 6ft mark?

  • I'm 5'8" but fairly oddly proportioned, I tend to have a fairly high saddle for my height. You're welcome to give it a test ride if you can make it to SE20, E14 or anywhere in between!

  • Change of plan, I'm actually going to retract this from sale for now. It'll be back up in a couple of weeks! I'm happy to hold on to it for someone that's keen but won't be able to part with it until I've finished my new project.

  • Now sold!
