Wanted: King Ti Cages

Posted on
  • As above, after a pair of King Ti Cages if anyone can help?

  • Why not the wolftooth ones which are readily available and better?

  • They're nice but £140+ for the pair is crazy money for bottle cages.

  • Fair enough, didn't realise there was that much of a price difference in the UK, they're more or less the same in Europe.

  • They were originally made by king as a colab with wolf tooth.
What makes them better? Just the extra mounting points?

  • Extra mounting points and flat mounting points. I never understood why King made them curved so they never sit flat on the frame unless you do the bolts up really tight.

  • You can buy 2 on ebay for £99.99 which is about the going rate, isn't it ? uk seller etc

  • they never sit flat on the frame unless you do the bolts up really tight

Interesting, thats not been my experience with bolts done up to usual torque.

@cmc_0123 Yeah £100 for two on ebay is probably the best option, I don't see them come up second hand that often. I think I paid £80 for two used ones.

  • £140+ for the pair is crazy money for bottle cages.

    WTAF

  • aye even £80 for used bottle cages is stoopid tbh

  • I'm still using the Elite ones I bought 10 years ago for about £7 each and the Lezyne side-entry ones that cost £12 each.

  • yep but they're not on the prolly radatwist line up

  • I got luck on e-mail with one for £36 a few months back

  • I've seen these names before. They're just as irrelevant as last time.

  • ahhahah bike wankerism

  • The little tab around the bolt holes isn't flat over a distance larger than the head of a button head M5 bolt, so the bolt head is under way more stress than it would be if it were on a flat surface. 99% of the time with a decent steel bolt, I'm sure there won't be an issue, but with an aluminium or Ti bolt, I can see a decent risk of the bolt heads popping off.

  • so the bolt head is under way more stress than it would be if it were on a flat surface

Ah fair doos, I see your point.
I’m not even sure what material the bolts I’m using are made from.
This is probably going to play on my mind now.

Anyone want two Ti king cages? 🙄

  • Silca counterfeits are common on Ebay.
    Careful who you buy from.

Silca has an excellent YouTube vid of the manufacturing, it’s easy to see how they cost a lot. Hand crafting vs robots.
