  • After a couple of years of covid getting in the way, it seems the Dynamo is finally happening without restrictions (did it happen last year? It’s all a blur): 16-17th July.

Return coaches have been booked out for a while, so if anyone is organising their own return buses and have free spaces here would be a good place to mention it.

  • What are greater Anglia planning? Are they going to dig out the class 90 stock? The new trains take about 4 bikes each...

16/17 might just fit with school...

  • Their website confirms no capacity will be added for it, so wouldn’t count on scoring a bike space on the commuter trains from Dunwich to London.

  • Best bet for a train these days is to add on a ride to Cambridge and go from there.

  • Southwark Cyclist are running the return coaches and vans for 17th off the beach again. They say not as many as previous years, so if you want one I'd book quick. I have as I think demand will be high.

  • Tried to book a ticket for this yesterday from Norwich to London only to be told all bike reservations had been suspended for Saturday & Sunday. The ticket clerk said that even if I booked a ticket, they couldn't guarentee that that I would be able to board with a bike.

Greater Anglia's official policy is here: https://www.greateranglia.co.uk/travel-information/service-alterations/2022-dunwich-dynamo

Tossers. I was really looking forward to it this year :(

  • It's really bizarre they don't accommodate more bikes, surely it's a win win?

  • Only done the DD once and it was a separate service with the bike carriage at the end of the train. It was probably too much faff, esp with staff shortages...etc.

  • Yeah, I'm sure it is more effort but also, more money for them.
I was told they don't run guard's vans anymore. It doesn't mention it on the above link but there were none available at all from Norwich.

  • was told they don't run guard's vans anymore.

Progress! New shitty dft specced trains allow for 2 or 3 bikes in carriage d only! Woh betide anyone who thinks they'll get away with their bike anywhere else.

  • They have changed the rolling stock recently. The old ones had two massive guards vans, one at each end of the train. The new rolling stock has space for 2 bikes or something day, so they simply have no way to fit large numbers of bikes onto the new trains. They did quite a long blog post on their website about a year ago. In the past they've been really supportive of the event, but without those older style trains, it's no longer possible.

  • I did it last year, smaller numbers than in recent years but still a good crowd, several hundred.

  • Starting to wonder if riding cross-country to Cambridge and picking up a train at Newmarket might be a "fun" option.

  • It depends a bit on the line, but the mainline trains from Norwich - London have space for six bikes (I've seen 8 before) in the carriage (which is the same as they always claimed for the old trains, although obviously you could physically fit more). It's one of the better bike setups I've seen in the new trains that have come out in the last few years as you don't have to hang them up.

  • If anybody ends up with a spare coach ticket I’m looking to pick one up for my brother. Cheers

  • Have two coach tickets for sale if anyone is looking. £94 for the pair.

These are provisionally sold - cheers

  • 31°C forecast for Dunwich on Sunday

  • Are you doing it this year? I can't make it sadly.

  • Yes, I think so. I will be doing my usual route, leaving Norwich at about midnight and joining the ride at Coddenham.

  • I might have 1-2 coach tickets for sale depending on a friends shoulder injury

  • THANX!

  • sorted. thanks
